Important Upcoming Event: East Coast Decoy Collectors (ECDC) - Decoy collectors that include members from the Long Island, New Jersey, Potomac and Carolina collectors' associations will meet for a buy-sell-swap weekend, rain or shine, April 11 & 12, 2008 at the Best Western (410-745-3333) in St. Michaels, MD. This weekend includes motel rooms full of old decoys, all for buy-sell-swap, as well as a cookout Saturday evening. The public is welcome and free decoy appraisals are provided. Many take this opportunity to preview decoys at the nearby Guyette & Schmidt headquarters facility for their forthcoming spring decoy auction at Pheasant Run. Motel accommodations as well as ECDC membership ($15 dues) is required to display decoys for sale or swap. There is a cookout for ECDC members. Participants also receive a membership directory. By William Welker of Edgeley, PA. Rare high head style, it is in excellent original paint and condition. Painted on bottom Wm Welker Edgely. PA it also retains its original Welker weight. This exact decoy is pictured on page 16 of the Decoy Magazine article on Welker Jan/Feb issue of 2001.

By Percy Gant of Osbornville, NJ.  Circa 1940’s it is in great original paint and condition showing moderate gunning wear.  This decoy shows Gant’s classic heart shaped wing carving.  His stylized paint and alert head position make it one of the best examples I have ever seen by this maker.

By Clark Madara of Pitman, New Jersey. Circa 1920 it is in original condition retaining most of the original flocking. The great sculptured head is proportioned well to the body and seperates this decoy from so many others done by this maker.

Drake Pintail

By Clark Madara of Pittman, NJ.  It is dated by Madara just under the pad weight 3/19/43.  It is in original paint and condition with moderated gunning wear that has developed into a pleasing patina.  This is the best example out of a small rig of pintails done by this maker.
